Heading into its 19th season, the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) is proud to welcome the Muskegon Risers for the 2016/17 season.
The Risers have maintained an independent outdoor schedule, while playing a pair of indoor exhibition games against the Detroit Waza Flo. Muskegon hosted both of those games at the 5,500 seat L.C. Walker Arena, where they will play their home games this winter.
"We expect this growth will have a positive impact on our players, staff, fans, business partners, and the Muskegon Lakeshore community overall," said Risers owner Matt Schmitt.
"The addition of the Risers shows the sophistication of our sport," said PASL Commissioner Kevin Milliken. "The PASL has always provided elite competition and player development, but now we are seeing more emphasis on the entrepreneurial and marketing aspects at all levels."
The announcement of the Risers marks the first new addition to the revitalized Great Lakes Division. The PASL anticipates a rapid expansion spurred by the growth of the Major Arena Soccer League, whose owners recently voted to create a professional second division league which will be situated between the amateur PASL and the major league MASL.
The Premier Arena Soccer League is entering its 19th season as the nation's top amateur arena soccer league and is the official developmental league of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). The PASL is a member of Confederacion Panamerica de Minifutbol (CPM) and the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
